Should I rate this one stars of two. I love the Song of Ice and Fire series and the wisdom of Tyrion Lannister. I knew I was getting something short (ahem) when I bought this. I did read some reviews.I suppose I didn’t read enough negative reviews or didn’t believe anyone would have the audacity to charge six bucks for a book with about 400 words. OK, there are a few cute good drawings of Tyrion, but not enough to call it art and not enough to charge more than $.99.To add insult to injury some of his best quotes are missing, this is one of favorites that didn’t make the cut.“Sorcery is the sauce fools spoon over failure to hide the flavor of their own incompetence.”- A clash of KingsThis book has done something for me that no other book in recent memory has done. There are books that wasted my time (this took no time at all), but even when I disliked a book I saw its value. I never felt so ripped off by a book before. If I would have seen it in a store I would have read it and put it back (no one would have blinked an eye as the entire book was the same length as the inside jacket description of many books.OK, now my review is about 75% the length of the book. Is this review good or well written? Maybe not, but at least it’s free.

It is what it claims to be and nothing more. It is just a list of quotes from the series by Tyrion. I was rather disappointed that they were not accompanied by more art. You see a drawing every 6-8 pages or so and the rest is just a quote in the middle of an otherwise empty page. The quotes are humorous and classic Tyrion, but it gets a little tedious with almost no original content to break it up. If I had a redo, I would not purchase this.

A true genius in his own right. GRRM created one of the most amazing and witty characters I’ve ever had the privilege to meet in my reading adventures. I can get sucked up into a good book and I absolutely love the ASOIF series. I impatiently wait for the final books to be published. In the meantime, I am happy to own this book. Tyrion’s wot and sarcasm is something I can relate to and match with my own. I love this little dwarf. Smartest man I’ve ever met.

If you are a fan of Tyrion from Game of Thrones, get it! I purchased this for my partner and he has a little Tyrion quote to read each day.

This book has maybe 50 pages of one liners from the book series. Tyrion Lannister is hilarious. I just couldn't resist buying this book for the overall fun of it.

For the true Game of Thrones fan you will love this book! It's a quick read to be enjoyed over a pint, some Dornish wine, or tea. This ebook contains all the quick wit dispensed by Tyrion in Martin's book.I recommend it!

It's cute....there are several "Guffaw" moments, but, it's not worth a lot of money. Mr. Martin probably didn't even write it...somebody took some jokes from his books and put them in this. OK, but....

This book only provides 1 word per page with a correlating image. For instance "patient" appears next to a picture of duck waiting for a snail to slug along. At first I was annoyed that there was no definition or context for the feelings, but I realized that the author probably wants to leave it open-ended for the parents to describe the word. I find that it helps me really think about what it means to be patient, angry, selfish, etc and then help better describe that emotion to my son (with real life examples instead of just being a robot reading words from a page)!

Honestly, I had expected more words per page, like a sentence on each. Instead, there's only a single word ("frustrated" or "happy" etc) per page. So as an adult, I was a little disappointed when I saw it.But my almost-four-year-old daughter strongly disagrees. She LOVES the adorable and clear pictures and likes telling the "story" of what is happening in each one, finishing up by saying the word on each page (which she's memorized). So despite my opinion, this book apparently deserves 5 stars from its target audience!

We are obsessed with all the duck & goose books around here, so don't read this review the wrong way. I love this book and highly recommend it. Just note it skews slightly older and is more of a "story" (and many more words) than the other duck and goose books we have (D&G Find A Pumpkin, D&G It's Time for Christmas, D&G How are You Feeling, D&G Goose Needs A Hug, all of which we have and my toddler has memorized by heart). Those books are all "bite sized" in terms of plot and word-count. This one is longer. Just an FYI. But we love it nonetheless!

I ordered this book for my 9 month old because I wanted him to have books about emotions. This one is perfect. It’s simple and open-ended so the parent/caregiver/teacher can explain the emotion written in words the child can understand- making this a good book to use as the child gets older. Geared towards toddlers but could definitely be used with preschoolers or even kindergarteners for explaining and understanding emotions.

My granddaughter and I have been fans of Duck and Goose ever since I came across "What's Up, Duck? A Book of Opposites" some time back. Since then we've read (and re-read, and re-read) "How are you Feeling?", "Goose Needs a Hug", and "Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin". But nothing had prepared me for the beauty and sweetness of this "origin issue" (as they would say in the comic book industry) story. Near perfection! Initially squaring off over who has rights to what they erroneously think is an egg, Duck and Goose learn by working together in caring for their supposed treasure to be fast friends, deeply appreciative of each other's unique traits. The last pages of this beautifully illustrated and profound story had me in tears (of joy) - especially the very last two words, on a page of their own.

I purchased this for my 6 month old granddaughter. The colors demonstrated in this book are okay, but not your basic primary colors that I thought would be introduced. This is fine for supplemental teaching of colors, for a slightly older toddler, but I'm going to continue to look for a book that will teach the primary colors. I wasn't fond of how the colors were depicted. Again, better as supplemental reading for an older toddler instead of introductory teaching.

Our newly two year old LOVES this book! He asks for it again and again. The writing is simple but uses lots of descriptive words. The back and forth between the characters is funny and cute. We all enjoy this book. Thank you Amazon for including this in our toddler’s book subscription box!! We have purchased this as a gift because it’s such a hit with us.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK My family LOVES the duck and goose books. The are so cute and so easy for little ones to follow. It only took a few times of reading through this book for my son to start trying to read it back to me. I would give ANY of the duck and goose books as gifts in a heartbeat.

Not everyone knows that the drawings of Curious George probably saved the Reys' lives during WWII as they traveled on bicycle from Paris to Spain to escape the Nazi occupation of France. They left Paris on bicycles just days before the German tanks rolled down the streets of Paris. They were Jewish so the few times they were stopped on their way south to Spain, they would show their manuscript of their first Curious George book with the drawings of H.A. and were finally left alone to proceed on their bikes. A wonderful saga for all lovers of Curious George at a middle school reading level. How glad we are that they escaped the Nazis and were finally able to sail to Brazil and then to New York to begin to publish their wonderful Curious George series. By the way, the 1st 7 books in the CG series are the best and anything that H.A. and Margaret Rey did is worth owning! Since their death, many others have written and illustrated Curious George books and there are now hundreds of CG books, a cartoon series but they are trash compared to the "real" thing!

This is a great read, it is presented in the format of a child's book with illustrations and narrow columns . A must read for parents who enjoy reading the curious george books to children.

With every page that you read, you wonder what is going to happen next, and will they make it okay. Very well written and wonderful illustrations. I am glad that it was put down on paper how they escaped from Paris to get to the New World so we and many more generations can enjoy Curious George.

This was an interesting story of the two famous authors of the delight stores of the darling monkey. I did not know what they went through to get to the US. It was nice also that the author told us of the progression of the characters they drew, the pets they had, as well as their many travels before & after the war. It was nice to hear to where they lived here in the US and what happened to them. I only wish I knew who owns the books & everything related to this monkey since the couple passed & had no children.

Short but informative factual narrative on the wartime escape from Paris and the journey of the authors with the manuscript for Curious George. The story is an enjoyable read for the interested adult reader also.

I loved this book. The travel and travails of escaping the Nazis when they took over France was captivating. This was a terrible time in world history especially for Jewish people. This lovely couple made so many children happy. Thank God for that!

This book was on the school reading list. The description did not sound all that great to an 11 year old, but as a parent it sounded intriguing. After receiving the book and reading it, the 11 year old totally loves it! It has been read by everyone in the house and is simply a great true story! Lots of great pictures and a very fast read, but it is full of wonderful real world historical facts about the family and era that grab your attention and keep it throughout the whole book. Don't miss a chance to get this wonderful true adventure and enjoy it with your whole family.

The format of the book lends itself well to telling the story of the Reys. Until reading this book I did not know that the creators of Curious George were refugees from the Nazis.

I was looking for a good beginning cut with scissors book. This book did not meet my expectations at all. The first half of the book is all tracing with no cutting and most of this tracing is repetitive to things i already own. The cutting part was very lack luster and short with too great a range in cutting skills. Though i own a number of books in this series and like them, this book was by far my least favorite. I am going to return or give away.

Our 5.5-yr.-old son and 3.5-yr.-old daughter love this book! It has a nice variety of pictures for the kids to cut and trace, and it appears to appeal to both boys and girls. (BTW--our public-school K/1st-grade teacher neighbor likes it too.)Another reviewer was disappointed that the pages aren't perforated, but it hasn't been a problem for us. My daughter always asks me to tear them out for her, and I have easily and cleanly torn out every one so far.

I made copies of the work sheets because obviously you can’t do a cutting activity out of a book. I like that the book gradually gets harder. It comes with reward stickers they serve as a great motivator for my just 4 year old.

What a fun book to read and so well written! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I don't read a lot of "romance" novels or books in that genre, so I'll admit that I bought it on the reputation and recommendation of one of my favorite authors, Richard Paul Evans, the author's father. I am so happy that I took a chance on this book. I was pleasantly surprised that, while love and romance were a major theme of the book as is clearly implied by the title, there was as much emphasis on all the other kinds of love that we experience in life; i.e., love between a parent and child, love between friends, and love of oneself. The reader is taken on a journey of discovery, both of self and of others. While the book is marketed toward young adults and it is an easy read, it is in no way "dummied down" or simplistic. I believe that anyone of any age can gain wisdom from reading this book, as we all need times of reflection, introspection and discovery to find out who we were, who we are, who we can be, as well as who those around us really are as compared to who we thought they were. Lastly, for those concerned about profanity and sexual gratuity, I wanted to mention that this is a "clean" book. There is no profanity or sex which, aside from being a nice break from what has become so common in books lately, is just not necessary to move the story forward. If anything, it would take away from the story, and it is such a sweet and beautiful story that nothing should be allowed to take from it.

I knew before I read it that it was a book for teens, just because the publisher’s URL referenced on the back cover was simonandschuster.com/teen. Knowing that made a big difference in how I read it. The prologue consisted of the main character’s mother’s diagnosis of a terminal and fast-moving illness, then skipped to the mother’s deathbed wish that said main character, Lina, go to Italy to stay with a man she’s never met but whom her mother trusts because he is apparently Lina’s father, and then dives right in with her arrival in Italy in chapter one. Its pacing, especially at the beginning, is, I think, reflective of Lina’s shock and denial about being in such a difficult, unexpected situation. It isn’t until later in the book that she begins to come to terms with her grief, and that reckoning and increase in maturity is an endearing thing to be a part of.Indeed, if I could sum up the whole book in just one word, it would be “cute.” But then I would have to clarify that by saying that it is so because of its appeal to teenagers (especially girls), its pacing, and its wonderful voice. The dialogue sounded consistently authentic and humorous. There are rejoinders like this on almost every page: “Odette grimaced. ‘I’m spending the summer pretending to be somewhere other than Italy. Ren grinned. “How’s that working out for you? You know, with your Italian husband and children?”I absolutely loved the humor in this book, as expressed in conversations like that and in Lina’s and her friend’s actions.And, of course, the romance was fun. If you’re an adult looking to read about a serious, in-depth, marriage-inducing love, you won’t find it in this book, nor should you expect it, except for a smattering in her mother’s backstory. But it was still a joy to “watch” the blossoming of romantic feelings between Lina and a certain male character. The bumps and detours they experienced as their relationship developed made for a good plot.So, if you have a teenage daughter, get this book for her right now. Keep in mind that there is a little bit of alcohol use, and various references to Lina’s illegitimacy. It does skim over the fact that Lina never knew her father while growing up with her mother, and never really questioned her father’s absence, but that may have been because of her afore-mentioned grief. Even if you’re not a teenager yourself, but are looking for a light summer read, you should read this. Enjoy it in the vein that it was written, with “love” and “gelato” used together in the title, almost as if they’re interchangeable. “Love & Gelato”, by Jenna Evans Welch is simply phenomenal!As I finish, I feel exactly as though I have just had the BEST vacation to Italy, explored Florence & even part of Rome, went on some long runs through a scene from an Olive Garden menu & a American Memorial Cemetery, & had some crazy awesome adventures with my new best friends.Uh, WOW.This doesn’t happen.When I’m really busy with life, I read at least half a dozen books a week minimum (when less slammed by my own writing deadlines, sometimes that half dozen is per day; chain-reading is a struggle that I struggle to want to struggle with), & I cannot remember the last time a book took me on such a delightful journey.It was pure magic.Maybe because I’m half-Italian myself & always wish I’d been able to go back when my Grandpa was still alive & my family went all the time—they wouldn’t hear of it, as I was at University, and, at the time, the first in our famiglia to ever graduate, but the family doesn’t go over together anymore now that my Grandpa is gone. End of a magical era I have always wished I hadn’t missed.It was like a taste of that kind of magic.Only not just a tasting spoon lick of magic like My lactose-intolerant self had with the Alfredo I made for dinner tonight. But like a Strega Nonna pot full of magic. Like I’d baked a crusty chewy loaf of Italian bread to go with it & sat down to enjoy the entire pot, but with none of caloric or tragic lactose-derived consequences after.In fact it was exactly like I was surrounded by my big fat Italian family’s love, & swimming in a sea of gelato.Perfetto.“Love & Gelato” indeed.I will be recommending this wonderful adventure to everybody. I don’t think I have EVER felt that way about ANY book before. Certain books to certain genre lovers, certainly. But everyone? My horror writer friends to sci-fi, to suspense thriller authors like myself, EVERYONE will find something to delight in in this novel.
