All in all, this book had lots of great info and tips with regards to how to help repair your credit. I will certainly be putting this info to use. Easy to read. I never realized there was any such thing as a subprime card! Apparently, If you do not qualify for the student and secured credit cards, you can opt to apply for a subprime card. However, these are not very practical because they incur high fees. I don’t think i’ll be applying for one though. Well recommended for beginners. Those that are experts in the credit space will probably know most of the information covered here

I learned a lot about how to climb the credit card ladder especially when it comes to applying for reward cards. The pros and cons of each kind of credit card was explored in such a way that I felt confident knowing which i was going to apply for as well as the factors that might affect my chance of getting accepted. As someone who hasn’t used a credit card before, I found it useful knowing what specific factors I needed to be aware of prior to going with any credit card provider e.g. with regards to fees, grace periods/billing cycle etc.

This was a really nice book to read having not known much about how FICO works and reward credit cards. It broke everything down in simple, easy-to-understand terms e.g. how FICO scores are calculated, the different weightings etc. It even tell you how to approach building a credit profile when you have no FICO Score to begin with. I especially loved the section in chapter 4 the talked about monitoring ones credit report - that was an eye opener!

I am so glad to have come across this book. As a real estate agent a lot of my clients can't get approved because of their scores. I can give them action steps to take to correct their report. I will personally be using some of these steps to boost my score as well. Applied knowledge is POWER!

The perfect book if you want to understand the confusing game of Credit Cards, Credit Bureaus and your Credit Score, very applicable advise, highly recommended.

This is good information that I had not considered. I am in the process of getting a mortgage loan and need to get my scores up quickly. I have found at least five things that I can do to get them up. The explanation of the FICO scoring was very helpful information.

I have learned so much about the credit scoring process reading this. When it comes to repairing my credit score, I'll be composing and mailing my 1st letters out soon. He even gives you a sample dispute later you can use of model. You can't ask for anything more! So glad I got this book!

I was raised on radio and I love this book. Reading it is like sitting down with Nachman in a booth at the Stage deli, ordering sandwiches, and listening to him dish about all the radio stars and programs I listened to when I was growing up. He's opinionated and he tells great stories and some of them reflect his own likes and dislikes but who cares? He's the one talking and it's fascinating.He covers it all from the 1930s and the beginning of commercial radio with Sarnoff and Paley all the way to what he calls "The Last Hurrah" with NBCs "the Big Show," the last gasp of radio in its struggle with television. He tells a lot of affectionate stories (and a few not so affectionate about certain personalities) about Fibber McGee and Molly, and Amos `n' Andy, Fanny Brice and Fred Allen, Groucho Marx, and on and on and even covers the musical programs and news programs (think Edward R. Murrow) and a lot of radio personalities I barely remember or didn't even know about.Even though the book is chronological, you can pick up this book, turn to a random chapter and start reading. And I bet you won't put it down.

I really love this book... Its a great read... neither overly scholarly (as in Zzzzzzzzzzzzz...) nor overly wishy washy like some titles that might come to mind. Its just one of those books you can sit back, read and enjoy. In the process you'll get a great overview of the rise and fall of radio... you'll meet the stars and the personality in front of and behind the mic, from the actors and executives, right down to the writers and sound effects men. - - I'm not sure if one could call it definitive... but for sure whether its definitive or not, it tells the story well and is re-readable as many of those classic radio shows are still relistenable. - - All in all, if you're a die hard "OTR" buff and want to know who played so and so in episode 154 of a certain radio show, its original airdate, and when it re-aired... the book probably isn't for you... - - If, however, to hear the story of radio as a whole, relive this golden age, and experience it not only from the perspective of the people who made it, and the generation that grew up on it this is one must have piece of literature - - (...to boot, almost all of my favorite radio shows were covered... atleast in brief !)

I refer to Jerry's book many times in my weekly column, Radio Somewhere, in the Asbury Park Press. Jerry has managed to capture all the reasons we loved these radio shows in a highly readable format, taking us through the medium's various stages of maturity. He brings the characters, who we either loved or have heard so much about, to life with all the quirks, escapades, talents and foibles that their actors' possessed. And he gives plenty of context with which to understand the influences on the business and the shows themselves. Lots of behind the scene perspectives. Jerry loves radio and still hosts a radio show, Mind Over Matter, weekly on NPR's KALW-FM, from San Francisco. Reading Raised on Radio you can't help but wish it was all just getting started again. It's a great ride.

The author does a wonderful job of exploring the history of popular shows from the "Golden Age" of radio. Reading this text is just like enjoying a great meal; taking time to experiencing a return to the median that entertained as younger folks. Personally I'd like to thank the author for this trip.Radio is gone for ever but opening this book lets us return to an excellent adventure in time travel!

Anyone in his 70s remembers the Golden Age of Radio. Gerald Nachman, an old college classmate of mine, is at or near that age. The result is a strong book that isn't based on others' recollections, but is based on Nachman's own experiences. Certainly he verified some facts by using normal research and reference tools, but Gerry's memories here are his own. They're vivid, they're succinct, and they're just wonderful. Raised on Radio is a gem, not because my friend wrote it, but because its title is truthful, thus the stories inside the book are truthful.

Informative, entertaining, nostalgic, and well-written. It brought back many memories of gathering around that Bakelite radio and being swept away into worlds of adventure, laughter, and drama ("melo-drama" we called it then). This book is a treasure for those who lived through the era and an enlightenment for those who came after.

This one was suggested by my sister and it did not disappoint. I was transported to the days of yesteryear and I enjoyed the trip. What research! And the photos were great as well. As Bob Hope would say, "Thanks for the Memory!"

About the Author

Amy Krouse Rosenthal was born in 1965, and graduated from Tufts University. I bought this for my baby that I'm expecting this month. I think it has a cute look and will have lots of info without being too thorough or aggressive to keep up with. I like the areas for photos, the way it's sectioned off, etc. I think it'll be the perfect snapshot of the beginning of her life to give to my daughter one day. Really looking forward to using it!

This is such a fun book. There is a section for each month to talk about highlights and paste in a photo. Also there are sections about mommy and daddy, grandparents, life before baby, the hospital, coming home, christening, baby shower, ultrasound photos, firsts and some blank pages to write in whatever you want. I love how there are checkboxes and writing prompts instead of just blank pages to journal in. I was able to complete a lot of the book in a couple hours while on maternity leave. Now I just go into the book once a month and write for 5 minutes and post a photo and I'm done which is so nice! The book is hardcover and spiral bound. There is lots of space to tape in bigger items like hospital bracelets and you can still close the book nicely.

I fell in love with this baby journal back in 2012 when I had my #1.Now I have 3 kids and 3 of these amazing journals :)[Pro]- Gender neutral- Simple & Minimalist type journal that doesn't require too much effort lol- Covers some pregnancy days like "breaking the big news" "ultra-amazing" and baby shower. (Very minimal)- Easy: 1 page per month (except for 3mo, 6mo, and 12 mo)- Great price $12[Con]- Wish it had some pockets for time capsule like Your Birthday Book (by same line) to keep cards, pictures, and etc.- My gallery of first is nice to have but I often forgot about it[Tips]- I taped an envelope so I can store some keep sake with this journal- I find it so very useful to have Instax camera to take monthly pictures (Let's face it; who has time to print photos every month?)I would highly recommend this baby book and also "Your Birthday Book" (https://amzn.to/2EHba56) from the same line after your baby turns 1.

Love this baby book.It starts out with a page or two with information on the parents. Then it moves onto the pregnancy phase which is 6ish pages. Some are mostly blank where you can paste a picture, or write in something that's sentimental to you. There's 3ish pages about the birth, and a page each for the hand and foot prints. Next is 5ish pages about the first few weeks home. There are also a few pages about the grandparents. The first year is broken up into each month, and each month has one page. Lastly the book has pages of firsts. For example first birthday, bath, smile, etc. The front and back of the book is a hardcover which I love because it allows me to tape in bulkier items like hospital bracelets, etc while still allowing the book to close properly. Lastly I liked the little bits of humor in the book, the author did a great job of making this light-hearted and fun. For example "My new home is so much more spacious than where I've been the last nine months!"

I have the bump book and I loved filling it out. This book made me mad when it pretty much has the entire first part as a review of pre baby. I wish it started at the birth forward and had more space for writing and pitctures (maybe a full page spread opposed to just a front or back.)Also, the milestones keep being missed because they are in their own section instead of being close to where it might happen. They are also not in order or usual mastery so I always forget by the time I flip through and see it on the page.

It seems like the trend in baby books is heading for the 5-year commitment scrapbook rather than the classic baby books of the past (monthly milestones, stats, photos for each), so I had given up on finding a reasonable book. This book, however, is a nice, small-ish size with an easy to use format and none of the essay prompts you'll find in the giant baby memory books in stores. This book is also very cute while staying GENDER NEUTRAL and without a theme (no jungle animals or ballet slippers). It has a sturdy cardboard cover and spiral binding. I highly recommend this book for anyone who doesn't want to compose monthly letters to their future child or organize massive photo collages with captions. I love this book! It is simple, but packed with great pieces of info for our sweet girl! I think this would make a wonderful gift for anyone expecting a new baby, whether it's their first child or their fourth.The cover is hard and seems like it will be extremely sturdy and will hold up well to the frequent use. I especially love the sections designated as "my gallery of firsts", so many cute little firsts to keep track of! Examples include: first bath, first words, first swim, first autumn, etc. The paper seems to be of a good quality. I have been using a Sharpie pen (the really fine point ones) to record in this book, and so far I've had no bleeding through the page issues. Also this book is fabulously gender neutral! Seriously, I love it and would recommend it in a heartbeat!

I bought this for my first-born and I got another one for baby #2. I like that this journal is a bit more modern than others, and it gives you plenty of essential entries without going overboard. There is a section for "firsts", as well, to keep track of milestone moments and first holidays. I just wish there were pockets or something else to make securing keepsakes easier. There are spots for photos, but I don't really see this as being a long-term option photographs. I'll probably end up transferring all of the information to a scrapbook one day.

I like the Eyewitness Travel Guides mainly because, when planning a trip, I get more excited about it just looking at the pictures I will be seeing in person. These guides have beautiful photography. There was great information in the Hawaii Guide, although I was surprised to find no mention of Nawiliwili, Kauai, where our cruise ship docked. I know others who have stayed there as well, but didn't find mention of it. However, the information was helpful and it was great to find places in Hawaii that were not gouging the tourists for all their money! The book helps with that.

This travel guide was published in 1998 which makes most of the information it contained almost useless. Many new hotels and restaurants have been added, and guides to pricing were no longer valid. Amazon should list the dates of publication of these guides

I wish there were separate ratings for the intellectual content of a book and its physical form. In the case of this particular text, I would give the content a rating of 5 (or more) stars while the binding and paper a 1 or 2 at most. To get the negative stuff out of the way, the quality of the paper and binding is poor. The paper feels cheap and stiff; the book itself looks warped; the binding is "segemented", for lack of a better word. In summary, I would go so far as to say that the production quality of a typical inexpensive Dover publication is far superior to this text. This, unfortunately, is the latest example of a long list of problems that I and others have had with Springer publications whose production is shoddy. I emailed their customer service department about this issue but received no response. Apparently, these problems don't concern them.With regard to the content, I really like what the authors have done. This text effectively fills the gap that currently exists between typical non-rigorous "vector calculus" texts that attempt to convey qualitative notions of the Stokes' theorem with physical and intuitive arguments and the most sophisticated treatments in the contexts of manifolds that would finds in texts such as John Lee's Introduction to Smooth Manifolds. The text by Galbis and Maestre is completely rigorous but the work is done exclusively in the context of submanifolds of Euclidean n-space. Consequently, the presentation is very concrete and hands-on.Mathematical sophistication is presumed in the sense that they assume the reader is comfortable with rigorous analysis of both one and several variables and basic linear algebra. Some of the things they state without proof for instance include the chain rule for multivariable functions, the Heine-Borel theorem and the uniform continuity theorem for continuous mappings defined on compact Euclidean spaces. The text should be pretty easy to read for people with this background.The authors make a very valid point that the notation and terminology surrounding this subject is not consistent in that different authors may define the same terms with slightly different meanings. In basic analysis everyone agrees on what it means for a set to be compact, connected and so forth, but there are many different ways that, say, a "regular curve" can been defined. What I particularly like about this text is that the authors are careful to note with precise references where other authors have defined a term to have a slightly (or completely) different meaning.So, in summary, I really like the content of this text and the way the authors have approached it. I thoroughly dislike the binding and fail to understand why such a text with such high-quality content must be subjected to such a low-quality production process.

What a spectacular book! If you love mathematics, as I do - buy this book; you will thank yourself for years!

I coincide with the previous reviewer in the low quality of the binding, as long as too small margins in the pages, and this is the only reason for not giving thebook the five-star grade that the content would deserve, but I suppose that Springer wants to keep the costs low, specially in the current times. Summarizing, a higly recommendable text for people that need this knowledge explained in a clear and, as much as possible, intuitive way without sacrificingmathematical rigor and soundness.
